The evening we fell in love with Hugh!
On the evening of Saturday 15th June, we welcomed stage and sceen actor Hugh Bonneville to the lower lawns of Arundel Castle for a charitable ‘conversation’ with Gary Shipton (Editor in Chief of Sussex World Newspapers and a Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex). Two hundred guests joined us on the night, including the Duke and Duchess of Norfolk.
Hugh, who is currently filming the third Downton Abbey movie, generously gave up his time to support the Trust, captivating his audience with fascinating stories of working with some of the country’s finest actors, including Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith and Julia Roberts. He also gave a unique and amusing insight into his personal life and acting career.
Our Chairman, Di Levantine, spoke about the work of the Trust and was delighted to announce on the night that the Duchess of Norfolk has recently agreed to become a patron – which was met with much applause.
Special thanks were also given to the wonderful local suppliers who contributed to the event, including: Earth Catering Great British Tents Changing Winds Saxophone Quartet, P&W Event Hire Ltd.F&H Audio Solutions Arundel Eccentrics Antiques Arundel Festival of the Arts Digby Fine English Atomos Wealth SussexWorld and V2 Radio.
To have the opportunity to host an event such as this within the Castle grounds has been a huge privilege which was only made possible by collaboration with Sharon Blaikie and the Arundel Festival of the Arts, Arundel Castle and our generous sponsor atomos, wealth & financial wellbeing. Along with a silent auction, a total of £8,000 was raised for the charity.
A truly wonderful evening!
